Everything you need to know about Catalog Booster — how it works, what it costs, and how your data is handled.

Catalog Booster scans every product in your Shopify store, scores each product description against SEO and conversion best practices and generates AI-powered improvement proposals — including optimised titles, descriptions, SEO meta fields and feature bullet points. You review each proposal, approve what you like and publish directly to your store with one click.

When you run a scan, Catalog Booster reads your entire product catalog from Shopify, takes a read-only snapshot of every product and scores each one for content quality. Products that score below the threshold are flagged for improvement and an AI generation job runs to produce proposal fields for each weak product. Scans run in the background — you can leave the page and return when it's done.

A proposal is a set of AI-generated content improvements for a single product. Each proposal contains individual field suggestions (title, description, SEO title, SEO description, feature bullets). You can approve or reject each field independently. Once you approve the fields you want, you can publish them to Shopify in a single batch. Nothing is written to your store until you explicitly publish.

Publishing only writes content that you have explicitly approved. Before any field is updated in Shopify, Catalog Booster saves a rollback snapshot of your original product data. If anything looks wrong after publishing, you can roll back to the previous version from the proposal detail page. No content is ever written to Shopify from a raw scan snapshot — only from your approved proposals.

Brand voice calibration analyses a sample of your existing product descriptions to automatically detect your writing style, tone, description length preference, use of bullet points, emoji usage and key personality traits. Every AI generation chain uses your active voice profile so that all generated content sounds like it came from your team — not a generic AI. You can also set manual overrides (brand name, target audience, words to avoid) to refine the output. If you have no product scan data yet, you can complete a short questionnaire instead.

A proposal is marked Stale when the underlying product in Shopify was updated after the proposal was generated. This means the AI suggestions may no longer reflect the current product data. You can regenerate the proposal to produce fresh suggestions based on the latest product version or reject the proposal if you've already updated the product manually.

Your base scan allowance depends on your plan: Starter includes 1 scan/month, Growth includes 3 scans/month and Scale includes unlimited scans (fair-use up to 100,000 products/month). If you exceed your base allowance, you can purchase additional scans at an overage rate — $10/scan on Starter, $8/scan on Growth. The app will show you the overage cost and ask for your confirmation before charging. All billing goes through Shopify.

A regeneration lets you ask the AI to produce a new version of a single proposal field (for example, a new description or a different SEO title) without re-scanning the entire catalog. Starter allows 2 regenerations per field per billing month, Growth allows 5 and Scale allows unlimited. When a field reaches its limit, its status changes to "Regeneration Limit Reached" and you'll need to either upgrade your plan or wait until the next billing month.

Starter supports up to 500 products in your catalog, Growth supports up to 3,000 and Scale supports an unlimited catalog. If your product count exceeds your plan's limit, the scan will not run. You'll see a prompt to upgrade your plan. Scale merchants are subject only to a fair-use cap of 100,000 products per scan cycle.

Catalog Booster stores read-only snapshots of your product content (titles, descriptions, SEO fields) in a secure, isolated database scoped exclusively to your shop. This data is used solely to generate proposals and to enable rollback after publishing. It is never shared with other merchants or used to train AI models. Snapshot retention depends on your plan: 10 snapshots on Starter, rolling 30 days on Growth and indefinite archival on Scale.
